TDAD. All Glass Pyramid link, farm house, Suffolk.
Designed by Tim Dodd. September 1993. Pen and ink on Tracing paper.
The existing farmhouse and neighbouring barn courtyard were connected by a pyramidal glass link structure. This structure comprised of polished stainless steel cruciform posts supporting a pre-cast glass-fibre concrete ring beam with drainage, electrical and fibre optic conduit and fixing positions prepared. On to this ring beam attached an all-glass pyramid with triple laminated tempered glass beams supporting the double glazed heated clear roof panels which used glass spacers. All together this would create a jewel like structure that would glow with internal fibre optic lighting, conduited within the pre-cast concrete ring beam. This ring beam was to be helicoptered in as access through the local small roads was limited.
